Omi Jewelry is a family business with family values. Established in 2013, OMI Jewelry was founded on the belief that beautiful jewelry shouldn’t be prohibitively expensive, an the buying experience should be a pleasurable one.
Our family has been in the jewelry business for over 20 years. What started as a wholesale diamond business in New York City’s Diamond District, has evolved over three generations into an online & in-store shopping experience. Exceptional service, selection, value, and of course: luxury watches & custom jewelry, as well as high end pre-manufactured jewelry.
It all began in 1989, when Alexander Matatov immigrated from Russia to America with his wife, son, & daughter. Soon enough, and with the help of family and friends, Matatov was able to open a local jewelry store, on Canal Street in lower Manhattan, in 1991. After 12 years of operation, Matatov & family came to the Diamond District in the year of 2003; where he then opened a flourishing one-of a-kind retail store on 47th street.
Alexander Matatov’s son, Robert, expanded to a small wholesale company at age 33, establishing Johnny’s Diamonds, which then branched out into our parent company: JD Watches. Thus, in 2013, Omi Jewelry born. Starting from the ground up, OMI Jewelry now has over one-million dollars’ worth of inventory online sales, as well as a staff of 25+ including our sales managers, watch makers, branding office, accounting departments, + more.
